Bill Redford enters race for Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools

Candidacy marks the first contested election for the office since 1998

ANGELS CAMP, CA – Dr. William “Bill” Redford, a veteran educator with more than 30 years of experience in public education, has announced his candidacy for Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools in the June 2026 election.

Redford’s entry marks the first contested election for the office since 1998, restoring voter choice in a position that has been appointed for nearly three decades.

Redford enters the race with more than $12,500 cash on hand, signaling strong readiness for a countywide campaign.

Dr. Redford has served in leadership roles across the K–12 system, including Superintendent, Associate Superintendent, Principal, and Director at the Calaveras County Office of Education. His career has focused on practical leadership, fiscal accountability, and improving outcomes for students and families.

“I am running to champion parental rights, expand career-directed education, and ensure education dollars are used where they matter most: in classrooms,” said Redford. “Families deserve a real voice, students deserve real-world skills, and taxpayers deserve accountability.”

Redford has managed school operations and budgets exceeding $23 million and is a member of the California Taxpayers Association. He has helped found multiple successful California public charter schools and has played a key role in expanding career and technical education pathways across the Mother Lode region.

Redford has lived and worked in Calaveras County for nearly a decade and currently serves as the founding teacher for the Altaville School for Independent Study in the Mark Twain Union Elementary School District.
